Some information about me, my internship and three goals I have

     Hello, my name is Anthony Lozano and I am currently majoring in Public Service and Public Policy with a certificate in Public Leadership and Management. I am currently a senior and will be graduating at the end of this semester. Prior to attending Arizona State University, I lived in California and went to Pierce community college where I received my Associates of Arts Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Over the years I have been incredibly interested in topics such as urban development, economics, public policy, education, healthcare, and attempts to alleviate poverty. On my free time I enjoy watching sports, going to the movies, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and going to the gym.

     I am currently interning with Allstate Insurance where I work with property, auto, and casualty claims. The organization is a Fortune 100 company and seeks to service the public through their means of insurance. Even though some people may think that insurance is a business that is out to take your money, we are really out there to help and give the public a service in times of crisis and tragedy. Over the summer I had an opportunity to be involved in meetings that regarded the Oklahoma tornado that destroyed multiple properties, killed 23 people, and injured 377 people. Allstate responded by having our catastrophe unit go out and help lend aid to the victims of the devastating EF5 tornado.
 

     Overall, I am extremely blessed to have been given an opportunity to work and intern with Allstate Insurance and wish to pursue a career in the future with them. Through the internship process there are three goals that I would like to complete. My first goal would be to get a full picture of how the claims process works. By understanding the claims process, then I will be able to make improvements to the process in the future. The second goal would be to implement and improve customer service. Some people do not realize that insurance is a public service that has to be given out. If we do not please the public (our customers), then we have not done our job correctly. Finally my last goal would be to allocate proper and fair cost management. Every customer we have that is in a crisis under the policy has the right to receive the supplement that helps aid the repair process. Hopefully over the course of the internship I will learn how to successfully work with thousands of dollars and allocating them properly to our customers.
