Thank You

Hello everyone,
As my internship comes to an end I would like to say thank you for everything that you guys have done. I have been so blessed to learn from each and every one of you leaders at Allstate. Since the day I came into Allstate, I could feel that this was a place that I would like to work at someday. Everyone was friendly and so accepting. Allstate has really welcomed me with open arms. Throughout every shadowing and rotation that I had to do, came a new and exciting challenge that I was able to meet. It was exciting being able to move from department to department and get an open clear idea of everything that was happening within Allstate. It is because of everyone that has helped me within Allstate that I was able to receive the Claims Service Adjuster position. I am greatly thankful for every one of you guys and all the hard work that you guys have put into me. Thank you again for everything that you guys have done and I am looking forward to working with every one of you guys on a permanent basis.
From,
Anthony Lozano

Most Important Thing

As I have mentioned before I have been incredibly blessed to have an opportunity to work within Allstate. Allstate gave me a great internship program where I get exposed to every aspect of the business. Since I was the first intern within Allstate, I was able to help set up a more elaborate internship program within Allstate. For next year, we will have two interns that will be rotating throughout Allstate. So far, there have been about 30 applications that have been sent out to us. As a result of all those people that have applied we will be able to pick the best people possible for the program. Allstate has given so much to me and as my internship program comes to an end I have actually managed to solidify a position within Allstate for when I graduate. I will be working as a Claims Service Adjuster within the auto department.

Looking back on my goals I have realized that I have reached all the goals that I went to seek out. I managed to understand the larger picture of the organization due to my rotations from department to department. I was able to improve customer service through facilitating and managing the processing work that was being done behind the scenes. Finally, I was able to manage and allocate costs efficiently within a strict budget. As someone who was on the total loss and salvage side of the business I was actually able to see the whole picture accurately. Overall, I feel like the internship truly prepared me for my future career at Allstate. Since the internship program is coming to an end I have had the honor of learning from almost every manager at Allstate. I seek to utilize all my teachings within the internship program into the real world.

Strengths of Allstate Insurance

As an intern at Allstate I have learned that we have a vast amount of resources that are given to the public. We offer insurance policies in casualty, property, and auto. On top of the insurance benefits that we offer people, there are also great benefits within the company. The benefits that are offered within the company involve retirement plans, continuing education plans, and a great PTO program. Overall, I think that the company is one of the best companies to be involved in. It is a Fortune 100 company that is well developed and offers tons of great incentives for people that are seeking work.

If I were in charge of a similar organization, there are not many things that I would do differently. Everyone at Allstate enjoys working within Allstate. Once you get in Allstate, the jobs prefer to higher within the company and mentor and guide you in how to move on up in the company. Something that I might do is to offer the company televisions to hook up your computer to in order to better facilitate presentations and meetings. Even then though, the company has televisions in a good amount of rooms that you can utilize. However, I would just make sure that every meeting room would have one in order to better facilitate things. Overall, Allstate offers great benefits that are hard to come by now.

Free write: Thanksgiving

This last weekend was Thanksgiving. I was lucky enough to get Thursday off for the holiday, but then Allstate also told me that I can get Friday off as well to spend time with my family. Sadly though, the cheapest most cost affordable flight was at 7 AM on Thanksgiving Day. In order to get to the airport on time I had to leave at 5 AM. After purchasing my ticket I decided to reserve a taxi at 5 AM to come get me in order to make it to the airport on time. On Thanksgiving Day, I woke up at 4 AM to get ready to leave. Once 5 AM came around I was ready to leave. However, my taxi didn’t come and never did come. As a resourceful individual I decided to go out on the street and randomly flag down a taxi. Luckily there was a taxi that came and saved my life. After getting on the taxi I was able to go home and enjoy my Thanksgiving with my friends and family. Even though Thanksgiving started off extremely stressful, it ended well and was worth every second of stress.

Free Write: ASU vs UCLA

On November 23, my friends and I decided to get together and road trip to California to watch the UCLA versus ASU game. Luckily since my family lives there we didn’t have to pay for a hotel room. When my friends and I finally got to California on Friday we ended up meeting up with my parents and some friends at a local bar around the corner from my place. Turns out that my old high school friend works at the bar that we went to and she hooked my friends and I ended up with happy hour prices for drinks and food.

The next day was the ASU versus UCLA game. We started the day off by tailgating for the game. While tailgating the game, tons of my friends and family came to visit us to hang out and enjoy each other’s company. At the tailgate, we had all kinds of food. There was sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, hot links, pasta salad, potato salad, chips, salsa, and endless amount of drinks. Everyone had a great time hanging out and catching up with each other.

After the tailgate we went to the game itself. The game was amazing. The first half ASU shut out UCLA. However, in the second half UCLA held ASU to only a field goal. In the end though, ASU pulled off a victory which made them number one in the Pac 12.

When the game was over, my friends and I got hotel rooms in Hollywood so we can go out and celebrate the big win. We didn’t end up checking into the hotel room until around 11:00. Once we checked in we quickly got dressed and hit Hollywood. Hollywood was so much fun and we were out all night. Overall, my trip to California was really successful. I enjoyed every second of it.

Career Service

For my other career service event I decided to go to the ASU grad fair. At the grad fair I was exposed to information about grad schools that I was not aware of. For instance, not all grad schools require you to take the GRE or GMAT if your GPA is high enough. Some schools will offer special scholarships for your grad school depending on what you are getting involved in.

Before going to the grad fair I looked at the list of the schools that were going to be there. When I got to the grad fair I went to the designated schools that I wanted to look at in order to get my masters degree. I looked at Pacific University, University of San Francisco, Arizona State University, and Arizona State University online program. I felt like all the schools had great programs to offer as far as public service and business are concerned. My goal is to hopefully receive my master’s degree within the next 4 years while working full time. Hopefully I will be able to pull this off but I know it will take dedication and hard discipline.
